Pre Symposium Workshop on Android : A New frontier in the Mobility Revolution’ organized by Computer Society of India(CSI) and Knowledge Management Society,India(KMS) on 17th March 2011 arranged on the eve of the the 2nd CSI National Student Symposium at K L University on 18th &19th,March 2011.


Different workshops conducted since September 2009 is listed below.

  1. First Teaching Workshop was organized between 10th to 12th September and 16th to18th September 2009.
  2. Second Teaching Workshop was organized between 26 to 28 October 2009 for Professors of the University. Dr Uma Garimella, Director, Teachers Academy, Hyderabad conducted the training programme.
  3. Mission 10X (part I) by M/s Wipro Technologies held from 26th Oct to 30th Oct 2009 .
  4. First Language Workshop for faculty members was organized between 03rdand 09th November 2009.
  5. Second Language Workshop for faculty members was organized 30th November to 04th December 2009.
  6. A seminar on Bloom�s Taxonomy was organized for all the members of the faculty of the University on 10th November 2009.

THE 2nd CSI NATIONAL STUDENT SYMPOSIUM-2011

Brief Note on Day 1 (18th March) events of the 2nd CSI National Student Symposium at K L University on 18th & 19th, March 2011.

  • The 2nd CSI National Student Symposium’s Inaugural function was conducted in KL University by CSI- KL University Student Branch and Koneru Chapter of CSI .
  • The theme of this symposium was ‘Enhancing Employability’.
  • The symposium was graced and attended by Prof. P. Thrimurthy, President of CSI,Sri.K.Satyanarayana,Chancellor,KL University,Prof.H.R.Vishwakarma,Hon.Secretary of CSI, Wg. Cdr. M. Murugesan, Director Education of CSI, Sri. T.Sabapathy, Karnataka State Student Co-ordinator, Prof.Amarnadh Rao, SIG- Soft Skills,CSI, Sri K.Raju , Hyderabad Chapter-Chairman, Dr. K. Rajasekhara Rao, AP State Student Coordinator and Convenor of the symposium ,Sri P. Dandhapani ,CEO,Evoke Technologies,Sri K.Raja Sekhar ,Koneru Chapter Chairman, Sri.A.V.Praveen Krishna, Counselor,KLU-CSI Student Branch and Co-Convenor of the symposium, Koneru chapter CSI members, Student members of CSI-KLUniversity student branch and delegates from all over AP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and other parts of India.
  • Dr.K.Rajasekhara Rao welcomed the gathering and in his inaugural address advised the students to concentrate on Technical skills and use this as a forum for acquiring and strengthening of soft skills.
  • Prof.P. Thrimurty stressed the need for all rounders in CSI. He advised the students to develop attitudinal, inter-personal and technical skills to be employable.
  • Sri. K .Satyanarayana,Chancellor of K L University opined that the symposium was the right forum to expose the students to the state-of-art technologies and developments in computer science and information technology. He advised the students to be highly proficient in English, analytical and logical skills apart from their core technological skills as in all their careers they likely to work in teams and groups.
  • Wg. Cdr. Murugesan said that the students should aim at passing on the benefits of the products and services to lower level of society at high school, intermediate as well as common villagers.
  • Sri T.Sabapaty, said that employability could easily be generated by exposing the students to all the facets of the products and project development.
  • Prof.Amarnadh Rao, SIG Soft skills Coordinator advocated that students should constantly remind themselves that they are the best which will generate tremendous confidence in them thus paving the way for employment.
  • A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.A.V.Praveen Krishna,Co-Convenor of the Symposium.
  • Two Invited talks were delivered . The invited talk were on “Software Development and Management” by Sri T.Sabapathy, and on “Personality Development
  • & Softskills” by Prof.Amarnadh Rao.
  • The 35 papers were presented. 15 posters were displayed. Spot events, on Robotics, Gaming, Programming, Debugging and Online hunt were initiated.
  • An Ethical Hacking workshop was also started which evoked the tremendous response.
  • A Cultural Program was presented. Classical and Western dances, Bhutan and Nepalese folk dances and light music were some of the events which were highly delightful and enjoyable.

Brief Note on Day 2 (19th March) events of the 2nd CSI National Student Symposium at K L University on 18th & 19th, March 2011.

  • Final rounds of programming, debugging, Ethical hacking, online hunt and gaming were conducted.
  • Two invited talks were delivered. The first one was on “ Agile Scrum software methodology” by Dandapani and the second one was on “employability- current scenario” by K.Raju.
  • A panel discussion was conducted on “enhancing employability.” The panel members were

    • Mr.P.Dandapani , CEO, Evoke Technologies, Hyderabad.

    • Dr. Krishna Rao, Principal, KIET, Kakinada.

    Prof. P. Thrimurty Coordinated and initiated the discussion. He said that for employability an all-round development is needed in the student. Technical, attitudinal and soft skills should be in right combination. The industry is wide open with lot of openings.

    Wg. Cdr. M.Murugesan said that students should do the projects with dedication and concentration so that they can face the interviews very well .There are plenty of opportunities for well prepared students. They should also be responsible to the society.

    Dr. K.Rajasekhara Rao opined that students should be exposed to all the core subjects.Soft skills should not be taught at the expense of core subjects.

    Mr. Amarnath Rao said that students must develop multi faceted personality so that they can either go for a job or become an entrepreneur.

    Mr. Sabapathy said that students should develop in technical as well as soft skills and strive to get research orientation. They should not worry about availability of jobs as they are available in plenty.

    Mr. Raju said that students must analyze their own self in terms of weaknesses and strengths and attempt to convert the weaknesses to strengths.

    Prof. Krishna Rao said that several jobs are available for all students and they are not advertised. Needy students should query all the industries in and around all the major cities so that they can get immediate employment.

    Mr. P. Dandapani said that students should take any job that come their way and should not wait for a job in an MNC. This will enable them to be productive and active attrition.

    In the ensuing discussion the following points were discussed and resolutions adapted:-

    • Indian syllabus covering wide breath was better than in depth coverage of western universities syllabus as it is developing versatility in the student. It will make them highly employable even in difficult times as evinced in the Y2K bubble as well as the recent recession times.
    • CSI is leaving no stone unturned to make the students highly skillful. These include providing resource persons for guest lectures and invited talks, arranging symposia and conferences and conducting national contests to bring out the best talent in the students. These contests includes quizzes, software & hardware competitions etc.
    • The jobs in Computer Industry are given for students of all branches. It is proved that CSE and IT students are progressing well because of their domain skills.
  • The remaining papers, posters and projects were presented.
  • Prizes were distributed to all the winners and runners.
  • A cultural program was presented.
  • Prof.P.Thrimurthy was felicitated by by the Chancellor K L University and all the dignitaries for his outstanding and unique contributions to the CSI as its President. Prof.H.R.Vishwakarma ,gave a brief accounts of the achievements of CSI during the tenure and leadership of Prof.P.Thrimurthy. Sri.Koneru Satyanaryana highlighted that Prof.P.Thrimuthy is an institution by himself and it is no wonder that he has been highly successful as President of CSI. He was very happy that Prof.P.Thrimurthy has won so many laurels and he wished him a long and healthy life. All the dignitaries have offered shawls, momentos and flowers to Prof.P.Thrimurthy.Mr.A.V.Praveen Krishna,Counselor,CSI-K L University Student Branch has presented a “Sanamana Pathrikha” bringing out all the achievements of Prof.P.Thrimurthy under the able stewardship of his able and noble wife Prof.P.Shyama.
