National Workshop on Research Opportunities in Micro/Nano Systems held On 25-26 March 2013

A National Level Worshop on Research Opportunities in Micro/Nano Systems is organized on 25th and 26th March 2013. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor has received and honoured the Resource Persons Dr.Prem Pal & Dr.Ashok Kumar Pande of Center for Micro Nano Systems, IIT Hyderabad in his chamber. Various happenings and research activities in the field of MEMS have been discussed. They have given positive consent to help MEMS research group and work closely with the Group. They also agreed to make MoU if we move the things in a proper channel through the IIT Director Dr. U B Desai.

The inauguration function is held on 25th at 10:00 hrs. Dr.R.Srihari Rao, Vice Chancellor, Dr.A.Anand Kumar, Principal-College of Engineering, and Resource Persons: Dr.Prem Pal, IIT Hyderabad and Dr.Ashok Kumar Pande, IIT Hyderabad are the Guests of Honour for the Inaugural function. Since, MEMS is interdisciplinary area, all the resource persons suggested to work collaboratively with the involvement of other departments. A total of 101 participants have registered for the workshop, in which 35 participants are from outside engineering colleges. No Entrance fee is collected from the students & staff of KLU.

Dr.Prem Pal has given a 2 hours talk on Fabrication of MEMS and NEMS. He covered Deposition Process, Lithography Process and different etching techniques using various instruments like Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Sputtering and wet chemical benches.

During the lunch, the resource persons have visited all the laboratories and classroom. The HoD of ECE Dr.Khan has explained about the University developments. They felt very happy and satisfied with the way the KLU is moving ahead.

After lunch, Dr.Ashok has delivered a talk on MEMS sensor design and actuation techniques

Since the Resource persons have visited Vijayawada with their family, hospitality has provided for three days and a tour to Papikondalu has arrange for them on Sunday, 24th March 2013.

Dr.Nitin S Kale of IIT Mumbai has reached Vijayawada on 25th Evening and accommodation is arranged in Hotel Manorama

Dr.Sarat Kumar, Associate Dean (Sponsored Research) has discussed with all the three resource persons about the possibilities of carrying out combined and collaborative research work. All the resource persons felt very happy with the hospitality.

Dr.Nitin S.Kale has given his talk on “MEMS Sensors and Instrumentation” in 26th March morning session. He is the lab manager of National Nano fabrication facility in IIT Bombay. He has accepted our request to allow our faculty/ students if we come up with a good proposal. He also accepted to provide his suggestions in writing the proposals.

Mr.Sripada Raja has given a 2hours hands-on-training on dedicated MEMS software tool on 26th afternoon session.
