Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest and pioneering departments
of the university. The department offers Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs in Mechanical Engg,
Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing, Thermal Engg, Nuclear Engg.& Technology respectively and offers B.Tech
Mechanical with Minor Degrees in Aerospace Engg and Nano Technology and also offers Research Program leading to
Ph.D in the areas of Design Engg, Thermal Engg, Manufacturing Engg and Industrial Engg.
The faculty strength is 65 out of which 14 faculty are Professors having PhD degrees.
The specializations of the faculty are well balanced into Design Engg, Thermal Engg,
Manufacturing Engg and Industrial Engg disciplines to cater the needs of students and research scholars.
The department houses well equipped state of the art laboratories as per
the prescribed curriculum, with equipments over and above the curriculum.
The department deals all the Core Engg subjects, through an attached
Software module from Main Software like Hyper works, ANSYS, Pro-E, FLUENT etc. All the faculty are well trained
in these software and are capable of developing teaching learning outcomes from these software.
The department has signed Live and working MOUs’ with Industries like Altair, Autoliv,
Pricol Technologies, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Liners India, etc, The Department and K L University are
Part of The Vijayawada Auto Cluster and CII- Vijayawada Zone, wherein students, faculty, Technicians are
having mutual sharing of expertise from Automobile, Core Mech.Engg Industries of the Vijayawada Region.
The Department organizes on regular intervals; International Conference on Multi Body Dynamics, National
Conference on Multi Body Systems, Seminars
on Nano Technology and Alternate Fuels. The department organizes International and National Level
Competitions in Association with ASME and SAE – Students Club; the workshops in Robotics, Intelligent Manufacturing and Auto Expo’s.
The areas of Expertise in the department include: Rotor Dynamics, Non Linera and Higher order Vibrations,
Condition Monitoring, Robotics, Alternate Fuels, Renewable Energy Resources,
Supply Chain Management, Nano Technology and Smart Materials including Composites.
