Inaugural Session of 4 Days Robotics Workshop

The departments of Mechanical, Industrial & Production Engineering of
K.L.University as a regular practice organize National Level Robotics workshop
every year, Last year we had organized the event in association with
Technophilia Ltd, Mumbai and this year we are organizing the event from January
22nd to 25th 2010 in association with Rofosoft Systems
Mumbai, which is an Alumnus body of IIT-Mumbai.
The inaugural session was held in the KLU campus Pea cock hall from
10.00 am onwards, Er.V.Rajendra Prasad, Managing Director – Vijayawada Auto
Cluster was the Chief Guest, Er.Y.Krishna Mohan, Chairman AP-Small Scale
Industries Association was the Guest of Honour, Prof.G.L.Datta, Vice Chancellor,
K.L.University Presided over the inaugural session, Prof.K.V.Ramana, Group Head,
Mech-IPE and Civil and Dr.A.Srinath, Coordinator of the Workshop were over the
dais along with the distinguished guests.
Prof.G.LDatta , VC, KLU delivered the welcome address and emphasized
the need to practice quality research and innovation in regular teaching
methodology in all the educational hubs across the country, and said at KLU we
are doing this and hence are able to achieve great careers for our graduating
engineers. He requested the Guests to lend their industrial expertise to our
budding engineers through training, internships and hands on sessions,
Prof.Datta said that Robotics being the most sought after Autonomy tool and
having wide coverage of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science
applications into it is the most sought after topic where in we at KLU wish to
establish a Center of Excellence and it is also the dream of our Chancellor and
Pro-Chancellor.
The Coordinator and Prof.Ramana delivered their welcome notes and
educated the gathering of pros and cons of the event and the coordinator
stressed the need of young engineers participation into such events across the
nation so as to make India the leader in cutting edge technology like the topic
of the workshop.
The Chief Guest Sri.Rajendra Prasad emphasized the need for autonomous
tools to be used widely owing to decreasing skilled man power because of brain
drain and increasing Literacy rate and lure for white color jobs, and said
Robots are the best possible aids by means of which Automation to fullest extent
in any Industry can be achieved, He also briefed the activities of Auto Cluster
and stressed that the students and faculty of KLU take the benefit of the
Cluster activities and get progressed through the hands on and practical
exposure.
The Guest of Honor Er.Y.Krishna Mohan, while delivering his address
made it very clear about the RP Machines, Technical Software and CNC equipment
that are available with the Auto Cluster and APSSIA, and expressed that KLU
lends its expertise to develop the cluster as well as get benefitted out of the
facilities available there by.
There was a huge turn over of participants where in today was the I
session i.e Robo Bricks, Over 190 participants from various colleges across A.P
as well as from surrounding States like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Orissa have
enrolled ; this session shall continue upto 23rd Jan 2010 and another
set of over 200 participants will be participation in Swarm Robotics from 24th
– 25th Jan 2010. Valedictory session for Robo Bricks is scheduled on
23rd Jan’10 at 4.45 pm and that for Swarm Robotics on 25th
Jan’10 at 5.00 pm.
