shop on " SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT" 24th April- 2010.
Theme of the workshop
Supply chain Management (SCM) is a
bridge between demand and supply. It conveys the demand to the supply points and
delivers the supply to demand points. SCM is a process of strategically managing
the procurement and storage of materials, parts and finished inventories with
information flow and marketing channels in such a way that current and future
profitability are maximized through cost effective fulfillment of orders. SCM
has four 4 major decision areas like Location, Production, Inventory and
Transportation.
SCM plays a vital role in optimizing total supply chain investment,
cost and customer service.
