About the Department

The department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002-2003 with an aim to link up basic and advanced life sciences with engineering technology for the betterment of mankind and nature. The four year B.Tech program in Biotechnology is accredited by NBA, Faculty with strong commitment and expertise in academics and industry impart practice oriented training to meet the ever growing challenges in the areas of life sciences. The faculty and students of the department believe in taking up value based and innovative research. The department received five government funded projects two from UGC, two from DST and one from DBT. The faculty of the Department has published more than 80 papers in reputed National and International journals. The department has MOUs with M/s. Sneha Bio-Tech, M/s. Krishnaveni Agro Chemicals, M/s. Sri Srinivasa Oil Palm Industries.

• Sequential separation of high value products from microalgae, DST, New Delhi.
• Isolation, identification and characterization of protein pollen allergens of Indian origin, UGC, New Delhi.
• Studies on flue gas fed microalgae for alternative fuel production, UGC, New Delhi.
• Molecular characterization of plant endo-n-actylglucosaminidases (ENG Gase), DST, New Delhi.
• C0₂ mitigation and cultivation of oil rich microalgae for biofuel production, DBT, New Delhi.
