WOMEN IN ENGINEERING
The IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program was
developed to address the growing concern that, the young generation or youth
especially, girls are discouraged from careers in mathematics, science, and
engineering.
This educational outreach program promotes involvement of IEEE members with
local junior and high schools in order to create a clear picture of what
engineering careers means. Through a one-to-one interaction between WIE
volunteers and a Student Team, the main aim of this program is to create a
technical support network among the students for the future budding engineers
which INDIA will produce.
The "WOMEN IN ENGINEERING" STAR PROGRAM was organized in a successful manner
on 23rd of August, 2012. It was the first session of the STAR program, in which
a presentation was given to create awareness among the students of 8th to 12th
standard students Shravanthi Public School, Gannavaram. We had a splendid
response for this event.
