KL International Conference focused on Building Sustainable Resilience

The future of Tourism and Hospitality lies in being sustainable, inclusive, collaborative, interconnection, and empowering the planet on which we live. Generating new ideas and taking essential learning’s stemming from the current circumstances can transform this sector and create better opportunities.

Considering the potential of this industry, the Department of Hotel Management, KL Deemed to be University, proudly hosted an International Conference on Tourism & Hospitality Sector to provide a viable platform for constructive engagement with all stakeholders across the value chain in the industry. This virtual conference aimed to discover the latest trends, learn unique perspectives, get in-depth instruction and engage in stimulating group discussions, identify new and exciting opportunities and partners, join the network of eminent personalities and help define the future of the field.

Around two hundred industry stalwarts, experts, hospitality professionals, chefs, South Indian Culinary Association members, students conglomerated from Canada, Ethiopia, Liberia, and different national and international universities, and representatives of the State’s Tourism Department participated in the event. Prominent speakers of the event include Smt. Lajwanti Naidu, Assistant Director – Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Chef Girma, Roseau Hotel, Ethiopia, Chef Jeevan Mani, Executive Chef, ELMS Hotel, Sheffield, UK, Chef Dr. Raj Mohan, Junior Forum Coordinator - South India Chef’s Association, Moges G.M Olympic Hotel, Ethiopia, Prof. Dr. R. Kannan, Director, Centre for Research of Tourism and Hospitality, Madurai Kamaraj University, and Mandefro G.M KZ hotel, Addis Abba, among others. Renowned speakers like Dr. Thamimul Ansari, Associate Professor, University of Gondar, Ethiopia, and Mr. H. Umar sheriff, Project Manager – Hospitality & Catering - IECD, Liberia, address the sessions. Dr. T. Milton, Dean- THM, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, and Mr. Amol Kumar, Senior faculty, NCHMCT, Noida, acted as Chair Persons in the Technical sessions.

Commenting on the International Conference, Dr. G. The themes incorporated various aspects that comprehended the present standing of the hospitality and tourism industry. Creation of marketing plans, Focus on E-Tourism and Hospitality, Diversity & Tourism and Hospitality Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sustainable Tourism Development, International issues, and the cross-cultural impact of Hospitality and Tourism, and more were among the key subjects of the discussion.

School of Hotel Management

The School of Hotel Management of the KL, Deemed to be University, is one of the premier hospitality institutions in India, providing quality hospitality education at the undergraduate level. The Department of Hotel Management was established in 2011 and is a gem in the crown of KL, Deemed to be University with highly qualified faculty members and greenfield infrastructure. The department offers extensive orientation in various aspects of the hospitality industry, including Culinary Arts, Front Office Management, Bar & Restaurants Management, and the Rooms division management. With the integration of foreign language courses and global certification programs, the department offers a great combination of the elements needed to develop students into excellent and ready-to-absorb professionals in the field of the hospitality industry.
