Arise and Educate - win
Winning Competitions has become a habit of KL students

Two teams from KL Deemed to be University won First Prize in the recent Smart India Hackathon-2022 - a pan India competition. Each team was awarded Rs. 1 Lakh on winning the grand finale of the SIH.

Once again, our students have proved that if one is determined enough, then one can find a way to achieve.

Smart India Hackathon (SIH) has changed my life. I never heard about SIH until my faculty and seniors told me about the importance of participation in this prestigious event, said Mutnuri Karrthikeya Sarma who is a student of B.Tech, AI&DS, 3rd-year at KL Deemed to be University. He is the team head of 'The Arise & Educate'. My team comprises Sunkara Yaswini, Mora Asha Deepthi, Mupparthi Rema Sharanya, Battula Kalyan Kowshik, and Yellamelli Visvesh Kumar who have worked hard for this event. 36 hours of continuous work on the project bore fruitful results when we finally won the First Prize.

Expressing happiness on receiving the first prize, Mupparthi Rema Sharanya, 2nd-year student from B. Tech AI&DS course said that the title of our project was Every Classroom a Digital Classroom. The objective of this project was to Create Online or Offline digital classrooms with a low-cost, low footprint, easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain with the locally available resources, Raspberry Pi devices. Our mentors, Mr. Koganti Sripath Roy and Mallidi Lakshmi Narayana Reddy played a crucial role in our success. Under their constant guidance and support, we were able to win. Our team participated in the Smart India Hackathon 2022, held at Excel Engineering College, Tamilnadu.

When the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) gave us the problem statement, we took it as a challenge to come up with a suitable solution. The challenge was to develop small form factor devices like Raspberry Pi and an offline solution that can act as servers to serve content as data aggregators as well as become a device connected with national infrastructure. Though the problem statement was interesting, it was very challenging. Because of our innovative approach, we could develop the solution, said Mora Asha Deepthi, ECE, 4th-year student.

If we look into the larger picture, the corona pandemic has changed many aspects of life. Even the learning experiences and preferences of school students have changed. Digital classrooms have opened up a whole new world of resources to teachers and students and provided teachers the platform to create powerful immersive classroom experiences. However, smart classes are expensive to set up, maintenance and may require additional separate space. Availability of a steady Internet connection is also a problem in many areas. To overcome the challenges, The Arise & Educate team has developed solutions that provide the capability for a content repository function that is capable of keeping a copy of grade-level textbook-linked content leveraging NDEAR DIKSHA content APIs. Thus, helping students to synchronize data from their respective devices and provide a complete Digital classroom experience - capable of running NDEAR DIKSHA offline solutions. We are happy that it would make a difference in the lives of students and change the phase of the education ecosystem in the country, said Sunkara Yaswini who is also pursuing engineering course at the University.

The Warriors - Win

Vyshnavi Gorantla, a CSE Honors 3rd-year student, is the team leader of the second KL winning team, The Warriors. She happily talked about her team's success and shared that, throughout the competition, the only inspiring aspect that kept us going was the immense faith we had in our creative solution. All our team members Mulaguri Asish Tony, Sriyaa Narisety, Nirmal Ganesh Yerramaneni, Vinod Babu Boddukuri, and Sasi Kiran Nallapu, dedicated 100% to the cause, and we were confident that we win the competition.

Despite working for day and night at a stretch, we never felt we were tired. Everyone worked with full energy and a burning desire to win the competition according to Mulaguri Asish Tony, who is pursuing CSE Honors program. Sriyaa Narisety, CSE Honours, 3rd-year student, felt that their team's strength was they never give up zeal, and the hard-working nature of the team members, would have been one of the reasons for their success.

Our team participated in the Smart India Hackathon, which was held at GIET University, Odisha under the guidance of our mentor Dr. Prashanth Shukla.  He enlightened us with many wonderful aspects and is a great guide. He played a key role in our success. We worked on a problem statement titled: Integrated information platform for information about Indian Universities, which was given by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), said CSE Honours, 3rd-year student- Nirmal Ganesh Yerramaneni.

The main objective of our problem statement was to develop an integrated platform to provide complete information about different courses, disciples, and other important aspects of various Indian Universities. So that students can do comparison analysis for choosing the right university/course based on different criteria. It was a Herculean task, but at the end of the day, all our hard work paid off. We were happy that we could develop a solution to save the time and energy of students by providing them with a Pan-India university information bank. Through this platform, students can access course details, comparison of courses, facilities, faculty, admission, tracking student mobility, viewing results, evaluation, certification, verification of certificates, and joint online courses (MOOCs). Students can now choose the suitable course and college of their choice after considering all the necessary aspects. Our platform will help student and faculty communities for self-improvement through comparison, said Sasi Kiran Nallapu, CSE Honours, 3rd-year student.

CSE Honours, 3rd-year student Vinod Babu Boddukuri said that lack of proper information leads to self-glorification and inbreeding among University and College students and faculty members. The integration of these details on a single platform will enhance transparency and remove the difficulty faced by the students due to a lack of information.
