About KL University
KLEF Deemed to be University, popularly known as KL University was established in 1980-81, as KL College of Engineering, which was declared as a Deemed to be University in 2009 by UGC, MHRD Government of India.
In 2019 UGC, MHRD declared KL University as Category 1 Institution, with English as the medium of instruction. KL University is committed to preparing the students as global citizens.
KL University offers research, cultural, social, and recreational facilities you would expect from a world-class university. The state-of-the-art infrastructure, laboratories, and highly qualified teaching staff, along with the academic environment, facilitate learning, research, and innovation. KL University offers 26 undergraduate programs, 28 postgraduate programs, and 14 doctoral degree programs covering a variety of fields. The quality of education offered by KLU is globally recognized and is reflected in various university rankings.
The University organizes a vibrant mix of events, competitions, public lectures, seminars, industrial/academic visits, and community services to enrich the students' life on campus. You also have opportunities to interact with invited speakers and leading scholars visiting our universities from globally renowned institutions. Our exchange students enjoy the same rights and privileges provided to the students taking full degree programmes.
The Library holds more than 190,000 books and 32,000 non-book materials, including well-reputed databases catering to all the different programs offered. In addition to specialized books and journals, the Library is centralized, air-conditioned, and fully automated. Patrons can access the subscribed e-resources by using the KLEF E-Library Mobile App.
Sports Facilities
There are nearly 30 sports, cultural, and art teams, as well as about 122 student-led Tech groups and technical associations. You can make friends with students from different cultural backgrounds.
The University has various indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and you will get free entry access. Our indoor sports facilities include a fitness room, sauna, sports pavilion, sport climbing wall, squash courts, badminton hall, table tennis room, etc.
There are more than 27 outlets on campus, providing comprehensive services for your daily needs, including dining, retail, and banking.
India, due to its diversity, is never out of festivities. Every day in KL University is filled with fun and frolic. Also, exchange programs are designed with fun-filled and learning-based activities.
Accommodation
The University provides comfortable and harmonic on-campus accommodation for students from overseas. Also, there is accommodation available in the surroundings of the University at very affordable rates, for those students who wish to stay outside of the University.
The Foreign students’ hostel has students from various countries on globe and provides a platform for knowledge integration where undergraduate students from different academic disciplines live together. You can develop a global perspective, think independently, and uphold self-confidence by communicating and collaborating with people of different disciplines or cultural backgrounds, fostering your learning, research and employability.
KLU has a variety of dining choices for multi-culture students. There are food courts and canteens that offer mouth-watering Indian cuisine, Chinese, Continental, and Moghalai dishes. There are coffee, tea, and fruit juice outlets at every nook of the University. The foreign students have a separate hostel, and their choices are taken care of through a separate kitchen.

Immersion Programs
KLU offers short-term cultural and domain specific immersion programs spanning from 4 days to two weeks that are customizable . These tours are chargeable and are open to all Universities. Tuition fee and accommodation charges are exempted for the students of our partner universities.
semester Abroad Programs
Our exchange students can enroll in any programs available to the students taking full degree program, if one meets the pre-requisites in addition to meeting quotas based on the agreement of KLU with your current university.
Procedure To Apply
Application Process :
KLU accepts applications through nominations from partner universities overseas. Students interested in taking up studies under the exchange program may apply through the International Office of their home university.
One needs to submit the following supporting documents for application :
- 1. Academic transcript
- 2. Curriculum vitae
- 3. Course selection Form
- 4. Recommendation letter
After the application is accepted by KLU, you will receive a link for course pre-enrolment and upload the following documents :
- A. a passport size colour photo with a plain background.
- B. Copy of the personal information page of your passport.
KLU offers scholarships to incoming undergraduate students with valid foreign passports and good academic records to participate in KLU credit-bearing semester exchange programs.
Selection Criteria :
Eligible candidates will be evaluated and selected in a fair and objective manner. The academic performance, recommendation of the home university, etc., will be taken into consideration.
Applicants from KLU’s strategic collaboration partners and countries will be prioritized.
Fees :
Fee towards full boarding (Accommodation + Food - with continental cuisine) :
- A. For the students of immersion programs from our partner Universities – up to 6 days: Free of charge
- B. For the students joining under Semester Abroad Programs / Twinning Programs / Full-time Undergrad / Graduate / Research Programs : US$ 200 per month
