Group Captain V Nagendra Rao (ECE) Class of 1990-94

Indian Air Force

Let me introduce myself, Iam Group Captain V Nagendra Rao of class 1990-94 from ECE, as a commissioned officer joined in Indian Air Force in November 1994, specialized in MIG-21 fighter fleet, I feel privileged to interact with you all through this SURABHI-ALMA platform. I thank Dr.PVRD Prasada Rao for giving this opportunity. I take immense pride to say that I have completed 26 years of glorious service at the Indian Airforce.

I feel so happy to be associated with my KLCE even after all these years. Our esteemed University has always welcomed it's alumni and I'm glad to be part of our Silver Jubilee celebrations, on August 3rd 2019, Giving us an opportunity to go back down the memory lane with lot of positive vibrations with all my batchmates and felt happy after meeting some of my faculty and seeing our classrooms.

Whatever I am today, is because of that one newspaper article. It was during January 1994 when I was rigorously preparing for the GRE and TOEFL exams, I happened to see an application form for the Indian Airforce. Without having anything in mind, I filled the form and posted it. I got a call letter from the Service Selection Board, Varanasi. It was not in my dreams that of having a fulfilling career in the air force. During the initial days at the Airforce Technical School, I was skeptical of the career choice I made at that point of time. But when I sit back and retrace my path, I couldn’t be much happier of the choice that I made. After my training at Bengaluru Airforce Academy, Bathinda in Punjab was my first posting then to North East, and later from Calcutta to the always in news and adventurous Srinagar, the capital of Jammu Kashmir my career at Airforce has been and exhilarating and enthralling ride. I was in the forward force during the times of Kargil War during May and June 1999. As the code of conduct will not allow me to reveal the situations that I was put in, Based on my services I am fortunate to be felicitated with President Award and my assignments covering all parts of India, and I will share more experiences when we meet in our University campus or on any virtual platform.

My message to dear students is not to seek the path of comfort, but to face the stress and spur of difficulty and challenge, to learn to stand up in the storm. It gives you a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage ,an appetite for adventure and having strong zeal to serve the nation, you can join Indian Air Force.

Until then, my best wishes are with you, Looking forward to meet you all !!!

A Gopi, (1985 Mechanical Engineering Batch Alumni) got the “AP Best Teacher Award”.

A pair of savvy graduate engineering students at the University of Dayton has caught the eye of the U.S. Department of Energy with innovative software that will help homeowners with solar systems conserve energy and save big bucks on their electricity bills.

Mithun Mohan Nagabhairava (Y3EC238, 2003 ECE batch Alumni), a software developer in the renewable and clean energy program, and mechanical engineer Dustin Pohlman won the "Popular Choice" second prize — and $4,000 — in the U.S. Department of Energy's first "Apps for Energy" competition. They'll travel to Washington, D.C., later this summer to demo the app to DOE representatives and utility companies.
