Department of Petroleum Engineering

KLEF is the first deemed to be university to start industry-focused petroleum engineering to cater to the needs of petroleum industry by producing highly qualified graduates with adequate technical and professional competence.

Established in the year 2014, the Department of Petroleum Engineering (DPE) of KLEF is steadily growing by expanding its learning spaces and lab infrastructure to serve the needs of oil and gas exploration and refining industry. The department is keeping pace with latest developments in the production of oil and gas with which the country and the region of AP are richly endowed with and is one of the 6 core industries in India. DPE is attracting students and faculty from different regions of the country and from abroad to pursue studies in K L E F in the field of petroleum engineering.

Petroleum industry offers highly paid job opportunities in India and abroad. There are more than 117 industries in upstream and downstream segments of exploration, production and refining of oil and gas. Projected growth rate in employment opportunities is close to 17% and offers many openings in oil industry. Curriculum of petroleum engineering in KLEF is aligned to meet the specific needs of different oil and gas industry segments.

The department regularly invites industry experts to exchange ideas and share experiences with the students and faculty. Petroleum Engineering of KLEF is expanding the scope for placements for our graduates through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with oil and gas industry for training and internships. The department is soon going introduce M. Tech programs in petroleum engineering specializing in Exploration and Production and Process Engineering. The faculty is collaborating with other academic institutions like IIT (ISM), Dhanbad for creating avenues for collaborative research and consultancy.
