Abstract
Wire cut Electrical
Discharge Machining (WEDM) is one of the non-conventional machining processes
capable of accurately machining components with high hardness and complex
shape, which have sharp edges that are very difficult to machine by the
conventional machining processes. A significant amount of research has gone
into exploring different methods of achieving the ultimate WEDM goals of
optimizing numerous process parameters analytically. This paper reviews the
vast array of research work carried out by the earlier researchers and graded
their results as the influence of machining parameters, pulse classification,
effect of wire electrode parameter on machining criteria, thermal load on wire
electrode, parametric optimization and adaptive systems. From the study carried
out from the literature the optimum values of various machining parameters are
notified in this paper. Future scope of the research work to be carried out is
envisaged.
