Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry conducts Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) 4-SEMESTER- courses in Organic and Analytical Chemistry, leading to the award of M. Sc. Degree. In addition, it also conducts program leading to Ph.D. degree. The Department comprises of highly competent faculty members. All faculty members are actively engaged in research and have published 320 plus research papers in reputed peer reviewed Journals during last five years. The Department has four patents to its credit. Each year, an average of 5 students are awarded PhD degree. The department has received research funding to the tune of 2.14 crore during last FIVE years from various Government and Non Government funding agencies (DST, CSIR, UGC). The department regularly organizes seminars/ conferences/workshops and invited talks by eminent scientists/researchers from various universities/research institutes within India and abroad.

Unique Curriculum: Offers a unique curriculum with thrust areas on emerging fields in chemical sciences such as green chemistry, drug design, advanced spectroscopic and instrumental techniques.

Research Facilities: Offers hands of training on sophisticated instruments such as UV, IR, XRD, HPLC, GC, CV, etc. Also offers training on modern synthetic schemes for drug design.

Summer Research Fellowships/Internships: Takes initiatives to place the students for summer research fellowships/internships premier institutes/industries.

Skill Development: Offers skill development courses such as drug design, advanced analytical techniques, food chemistry, Nanochemistry, Design thinking innovation, and communication skills to M.Sc. students. Students are also trained to appear for nation level examinations such as CSIR-JRF/NET, GATE, etc.

Innovative Project: Offers M.Sc. students to work with well-qualified researchers on sponsored research projects under the part of M.Sc. dissertation leading to publication in excellent journals from Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, RSC, ACS, etc.
