Smoke Free Education Institution - UGC Initiative.
In order to
ensure effective implementation of "Prohibition of Advertisement
and regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and
Distribution of cigarettes and other Tobacco products Act 2003"
The
Vice-Chancellor has ordered to take necessary action on the
following points:

The Boards as prescribed under the rules
are to be displayed outside the premises of the
University, prominently stating that sale of
cigarettes and tobacco products in an area
within a radius of 100 (one hundred) yards of
the University is strictly prohibited and that
such sale is an offence punishable with the fine
which may extend to two hundred rupees

Action has to be taken to sensitize the
teaching and Non-teaching staff of the
University on the issue so that the system is in
place immediately.

The Dean(Student Affairs and the
Disciplinary Committee) shall ensure the
implementation of this system.

The shops if any, selling cigarettes and
other tobacco products around the University are
to be got removed immediately.
All the Departments,
Centre for Extension Activities and Hobby Clubs &
Student Activities are advised to take up measures like
organizing poster competitions, seminars/workshops in promoting
tobacco free campus and a healthy life style among students,
teachers and staff.
