Food Technology

About Programs

The Food Technology program is designed to produce graduates capable of working effectively across food sectors — including food industries, government organizations, and entrepreneurship. Graduates may take up roles in food production, food ingredients, research and development, food process engineering, food quality and safety systems, quality control, regulatory affairs, and marketing.

The rapid growth of food industries in India and globally provides wide opportunities for skilled food technologists. They play a significant role in ensuring that processed foods are safe, high-quality, nutritious, and beneficial for consumers.

According to MoFPI (Ministry of Food Processing Industries), India wastes food worth more than ₹44,000 crore annually—primarily due to improper storage, packaging, and lack of processing. The food processing sector has immense scope to reduce this wastage. Food technologists, with their expertise in food materials, preservation, and processing, are at the forefront in bringing innovative and sustainable solutions to the domestic and international markets. With government initiatives empowering this sunrise industry, there is tremendous opportunity for young minds to contribute to national growth.
