The Circulation Section is a vital component of the Central Library, significantly impacting the overall user experience. Key features include:

User interactions

  • This section serves as the primary point of contact for library users, playing a crucial role in maintaining the library's image and ensuring high-quality service.

Library Transactions

  • The Central Library Counter facilitates the issuing and returning of documents.
  • Hours of Operation
  • Monday to Saturday: 9 AM to 6 PM
  • Sundays and Holidays: 9 AM to 5 PM

Borrowers Privileges

Circulation Rules

  • Borrowers must satisfy themselves with the physical condition of the book before borrowing
  • Books are normally issued for a fortnight except reference books which are issued to faculty for overnight only.
  • Those textbooks which have single copies shall not be issued.
  • Students can reserve the books at the circulation counter in case these are already issued.
  • Reference books, theses, project reports and periodicals/bound journals are not issued at all.
  • Project Reports/Theses are to be consulted within the Library premises only.
  • Dissertations/Theses cannot be photocopied.
  • Library can recall any issued book even before the due date.
  • No Sub lending of books is permitted.

Overdue Charges

  • Issued books returned after due date attract overdue charges. For general books, the overdue charges range from Rs. 2 per day on each book.
  • For loss of Library book the member has to pay the two times of the price of the book plus fine.

RFID Services

Since 2018, the KLEF Central Library has implemented RFID technology, enhancing user experience with features such as:

  • Self-Check-Out of BooksAllowing users to borrow books independently.
  • Self-Check-In (Book Drop Box): Enabling convenient returns.
  • Theft Control:Enhancing security to prevent unauthorized removal of materials.
  • Footfall Counter: Tracking library visitor numbers to improve service management.
