Classification

  • The TPD utilizes the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system for assigning classification numbers, facilitating easy retrieval of materials.

Metadata Creation:

  • The division is responsible for cataloging and creating metadata according to widely accepted standards, enhancing discoverability through the Web OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog).

Physical Processing:

  • Acquisition and Receiving: Managing the purchase of books from vendors and processing incoming materials.
  • Tagging and Bar-coding: Implementing RFID tagging and bar-coding to streamline inventory management.
  • Stamping, Numbering, and Labeling:Marking items for identification and organization.

Community Engagement:

  • New Arrivals Notification:Regularly informing the institute community about newly arrived books.

  • Faculty Alerts: Notifying faculty members when their recommended books are available for checkout.

New Arrival Lists:
