STUDENT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES:
1. The following events are conducted by Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) on 24 – 02 – 2015.
Dr B Raghu Kumar , Professor I/C- MESA, addressed the gathering.
Mr. Y. S. Kartikeyan and Group sang movie songs
Quiz contest has been conducted.
The quiz was conducted in two phases. In the First phase, written test was conducted for the registered students. 120Students were appeared for the written test. 25 students were shortlisted for second phase.
In the second phase, the rounds were conducted, viz; Technical round, current affairs round and General knowledge round.
Based on the performance in the second phase winners and runners were identified.
If any question is failed to answer by the participants, audience were given a chance to answer it. Prizes are given to audience immediately, after answering the question.
2. The following events are conducted by Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) on 04 – 03 – 2015.
Dr. K. Rama Kotaiah, A-HoD addressed the gathering and motivated the students on the importance of concentration and dedication.
Dr. B. Raghu Kumar, I/C MESA briefed about MESA and the activities it is planning to organize in the future and encouraged the students to participate in various activities.
Student coordinators of various events of the upcoming Yantrik 2k'15 gave a brief preview of all the events.
Dumb Charades contest was conducted in two phases.
In the first phase, written test was conducted to a total of 210 students (42 batches of 5 students each) and out of them 25 students (5 batches) were shortlisted for second phase.
Dr. K. Rama Kotaiah hosted the second phase. The rounds were conducted on Technical, Subject oriented, old/new movies.
Students participated enthusiastically and audience have enjoyed.
3. Idea Presentation program was conducted on 12th March, 2015. The following students participated and shared their ideas.
a. R. Anil Chand (presented 3 ideas on Solar, usage of glasses and 3D printing).
b. Aditya Nair (presented an idea regarding coating of boilers with different materials that have high thermal conductivity).
c. Pradeep Sai Siva (presented an idea on power generation related to energy sector – Mobile Windmill).
d. Ch. Jaya Chandra (presented an idea on Tri-Wheel Mechanism).
e. P. Hemanth (presented an idea on Online Payment Gateway system for K L University).
f. D. Vijay Kumar Reddy (presented an idea on making of APVS).
g. V. Sree Kavya (presented an idea on opening a portal for keeping the soft copies of all the books for easy access to the students).
ACHIEVEMENTS:
FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS:
Ph.D. Awarded to the Faculty of KL University by Other Universities
1. Mr. G. Ravi Kumar, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department was awarded Ph.D. for the thesis titled "Experimental studies on Internally Circulating Fluidized Bed" from IIT-Hyderabad in the month of March, 2015.
2. Mr. B. S. V. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department was awarded Ph.D. for the thesis titled "Ultrafast Cooling of a High Temperature Surface using different Additive based Cooling Processes" from IIT-Kharagpur in the month of February, 2015.
3. Mr. M. Vijaya Kumar, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department was awarded Ph.D. for the thesis titled "Web-Based Decision System for Distributed Process Planning in a Network Manufacturing Environment" from IIT-Kharagpur on 8th October, 2014.
4. Faculty advisors Dr. A. Srinath and Mr. S. Ramesh Kumar were felicitated by Agastya International Foundation for guiding the students to compete in educating the government school students about the updated technology in the society.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS:
1. Team Unblockabulls, a team of 25 student members under the guidance Mr. S. Ramesh Kumar, secured 1st Prize (out of 118 participants) of Rs. 1,00,000/- for best Design and Performance in e-Baja and 2nd Prize (out of 118 participants) of Rs. 40,000 for APJ Abdul Kalam Initiative Award in SAE e-Baja design and endurance contest conducted between 18th and 22nd of February at Pithampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. 2. Mech Sregents, a team of 20 student members under the guidance of Mr. Kushal Kumar and Mr. Usha Kiran Kumar secured 3rd place in Skip Pad Test and 6th place in Endurance test (10Km Cricuit, 2Laps) and secured 14th position out of 70 participants in an event conducted at KARY Motor Way, Coimbatore, TN between 26th and 28th January, 2015.
3. ASME HPVC – Team CIVET, a team of 17 members secured all India 14th and South India 1st position out of 42 participants at ASME HPVC India 2015, hosted by Delhi Technological University between 16th and 18th January, 2015
4. ASME HPVC – Team VIJAYAN, a team of 15 members secured all India 15th and South India 2nd position out of 42 participants at ASME HPVC India 2015, hosted by Delhi Technological University between 16th and 18th January, 2015
5. Team VANQUISHERS, a team of 4 III/IV B.Tech. students secured 4th position (cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-) out of 55 teams that participated in the event named Anveshana conducted by Agastya International Foundation. The main objective of this competition is to educate the government school students about the updated technology in the society. The participated students work on building a fire fighting robot along with 2 students from ZPHS.
6. Mr. K. P. S. S. S. Abhiwed (12007312) of III B.Tech secured all India 29th Rank in NCAT (National Creative Aptitude Test) 2014.
7. Mr. N.V.V.Krishna Chaitanya of 2010 - 2014 batch, has secured all India 29th Rank in the Altair Optimization Contest 2014 (AOC2014: India)

8. SAE Supra Design Contest was held in Chennai and a batch of 23 students participated in the event. (report is attached).
