The Agricultural Engineering Department plays an essential role in promoting agricultural mechanization and aiding farmers in carrying out various farming operations, such as land bed preparation, sowing, crop protection, harvesting, post-harvest technology management, and value addition promptly. The department has become increasingly important among farmers in meeting the growing demand for water for agriculture with depleting water resources. They achieve this by adopting better water conservation and water management strategies.
Furthermore, the Agricultural Engineering Department assists farmers in soil conservation, creating new irrigation sources, and adopting renewable energy technologies for pumping water for irrigation. Lastly, the department plays a vital role in helping farmers to profit from the value addition of their agricultural produce. This helps to prevent wastage of agricultural products when the prices are not remunerative.
