Department of Agricultural Extension Education is functioning in the KL College of Agriculture from year 2020. Agricultural extension Education involves the practical application of scientific research and emerging knowledge to enhance agricultural practices through farmer education. This dynamic field has evolved to encompass a broad spectrum of communication and learning initiatives tailored for rural communities. Delivered by experts from various disciplines, including agriculture and agricultural marketing, these advisory services are instrumental in elevating agricultural productivity, fortifying food security, and enhancing rural livelihoods.
The main objective of establishing the department was to train the undergraduate students in the areas of communication, rural development, programme planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation and entrepreneurship development.
In the seventh semester, students embark on a transformative journey by enrolling in the Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE) and Agricultural Industry Analysis (AIA) Programme. RAWE immerses students in the rural milieu, offering a hands-on understanding of agriculture and its allied activities. It serves as a gateway to comprehend the intricate socio-economic dynamics of farming communities, enabling students to grapple with real-world challenges faced by farmers and growers. Through direct engagement with agricultural practitioners, students gain invaluable insights into field realities, fostering a profound appreciation for the complexities of rural life.
The extension activities mainly include training programs to the farmers and extension personnel in production technologies, village adoption program, the conduct of meetings, seminars, conferences, college activities, functions, etc.
