The department has been maintaining two clubs with the active involvement of interested students as follows:
Apiculture club initiated to educate and raise awareness among club members and visitors about the vital importance of honey bees and their intricate behaviour. Through captivating information displayed on the board, including facts about bee biology, ecology, and their role in pollination, the notice board will spark curiosity and interest in beekeeping among members. Furthermore, it will emphasize the urgency of bee conservation efforts by highlighting the various threats facing honey bees and advocating for their protection. Additionally, the notice board will serve as a platform for fostering community engagement, encouraging shared learning and discussion among members, and promoting environmental stewardship by showcasing the interconnectedness of bees with ecosystem health. It will also facilitate event promotion, advertising upcoming club activities, workshops, and seminars, while incorporating interactive features such as quizzes to enhance member engagement. Regular updates on the board will keep members informed about the latest developments in apiculture, and it will celebrate club achievements and contributions to bee conservation, inspiring further action and involvement within the community.
This club has been initiated to underscore the significance of practical learning experiences in agricultural education, particularly in the realm of integrated pest management in different field and horticulture crops. Throughout the installation process, instructors provided students with detailed explanations of the purpose of pheromone traps, the biology and behaviour of target pest species, and the importance of timely pest detection in cucurbit production.
