About the Department

Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding was established in 2020 is a pioneer back bone and elementary department of KL College of Agriculture aimed with triple functions of teaching, research, and extension. Our esteemed faculties of this department are highly dedicated, devoted, and qualified breeders. Department has excellent well equipped modern facilities for efficiently teaching various courses related to Genetics & Plant Breeding. Department is engaged in pouring theoretical as well as practical knowledge to the students. Overall, the Genetics and Plant Breeding department plays a vital role in advancing agriculture by developing improved crop varieties to meet the growing demands of a changing world.

Department activities

Department is dynamically involved in the RAWE programme to share knowledge and build awareness among farmers and seed production programme under ELP module to give actual practical knowledge to students. The department has top-notch lab facilities and is well-equipped to conduct molecular biology and plant breeding experiments.
