About the Department
The Department of Plant Pathology was established during the year 2020 to deliver the quality research, education and extension service in Plant Pathology with emphasis on the identification and management of disease threats in various agricultural and horticultural crops in the districts of Andra Pradesh. The teaching for undergraduate programme was started in the year of 2020 and the programme of Plant Pathology was started in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture
Regarding the extension activities, training on the edible mushroom production and spawn production will be commenced in 2024 and it is being continued to impart training to the farmers, farm women, unemployed rural youth and home makers. In 2024 production of biocontrol agents (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma viride)will be commenced and it is being supplied to the farmers.

Mandate and Objectives of the Department:

Imparting education to under-graduate students.
- Providing guidance to research work.
- Counselling of U.G. students for JRF examination and personality development.
- Conducting research useful to the farmers and undertaking research projects sponsored by State Government, ICAR, other agencies, etc.
- Providing disease diagnosis and advisory services to the farmers for disease management.
- Extending extension services to the farmers, State Department of Agriculture, NGOs, etc. by participation in agricultural fair, Krishi mahotsav, Ratri sabha, MGMG, radio talk, Door darshan, extension literatures i.e. popular articles (Rog Calendars) leaflet, folder etc.
- Participation in and organizing of seminar, symposia, workshop, summer institute, short training, etc.
