Programming World Wide Web Workshop by Dr. Jesse Heines, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering of K L Deemed to be University has organised a 5 day exclusive workshop for 2nd year students on Programming World Wide Web by Dr. Jesse Heines, Professor,  Dept. of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA. Professor Jesse was accompanied by three of his students Elad , Zori & Sreeja. During the workshop three main technologies to implement web pages namely HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were discussed.

The workshop enlightened students on

  • the ever-evolving HTML standards
  • incompatibilities between browsers
  • best practices in styling web pages
  • organization of the browser Document Object Model
  • the use of JavaScript libraries to add previously difficult-to-implement interaction types
  • data storage using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)
  • dynamic page loading using Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX)

At the end of the workshop students were able to setup a well structured website and manipulate web pages using the browser Document Object Model.

During the closing ceremony KL Registrar Dr. Rangaiah felicitated Prof. Jesse and Prof. Jesse whole heartedly thanked KL Management for inviting him. Students have given a very positive feedback.
