Convocation of K L Deemed to be University held on 28-Jan-2013 : A Glimpse

Dr.Vijay Kumar Saraswat, who was honored with the Padmabhushan by Govt.of India on the eve of the 64th Republic Day; the Scientific Advisor and Secretary to Ministry of Defense, Govt of India, has delivered the Convocation Address at the K L Deemed to be University, Vaddeswaram, Guntur on 28th January 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peacock Convocation Center. He was honored with the Doctor of Science Honorius causa, by the University for his exemplary services rendered to the society through several cutting edge R & D initiatives in the field of Defense (DRDO), Ministry of Defense Govt. of India.

During his convocation address, he highlighted the importance of R & D in Science and Technology and gave ample examples of missile programs like "Agni -V" that was successfully launched on 19th April 2012 by the DRDO,    the India's light combat aircraft "Tejas", the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles like "Akashdeep", INS Arihant, Hyper sonic flight. He threw light on "Fusion as a source of Energy" especially provoking the thoughts of the graduating engineers to work collectively in the emerging R & D area to make India an Energy sustainable Nation. He called upon the graduates to develop indigenous technologies collectively within India's resources and make their Innovations and Ideas develop the cause of the Nation, as there is lot of resource available in India related to Nuclear Technology like; Deuterium, Tritium, etc.

He focused mainly on making India an Energy efficient and sustainable Nation.

He congratulated the efforts of K L Deemed to be University in R & D and appreciated the University faculty, students and especially the Management for taking exemplary and innovative steps by establishing good number of "Centers of Excellence"  in areas of Embedded systems, Robotics etc. which he hoped will definitely  lead to cutting edge "outcomes"  thereby leading the graduates of this University to outshine in the world.

Later Honble Chancellor, President and Vice Chancellor presented the D.Sc. Honor's Causa to Padma Bhushan Dr.V.K.Saraswat and honored him with a memento and felicitated him with a traditional Shawl.

Earlier to this, Dr.N.Rangaiah Registrar gave the welcome note followed by Vice Chancellor Dr.R.Sreehari Rao, who presented the Annual Covocation Report marking the achievements of K L Deemed to be University in the past year. The Hon'ble Chancellor Prof.G.L.Datta later gave his Convocation address and said KL has become the leading University in A.P., and is having a great potential to be known as a Global University owing to its emphasis on quality education with ICT and Innovation, Cutting edge Research, he also announced that KL was graded with "A" Grade with 3.16 / 4 by the NAAC in January 2013, that proves the widespread credentials of KL.

Hon'ble President KLEF, Er.Koneru Satyanaraya in his Presidential address stressed that KL is the University which not only delivers academics but inculcates Research and Innovation amongst its students and faculty by having a blend of both these essential ingredients of a Higher Educational Institution, he said KL has started the Academic Staff College with an aim to train and motivate the Faculty to develop this culture. He emphasized the importance given at KL to Cutting edge R&D areas of Embedded Systems, Radars, Robotics & Mechatronics and Alternate Energy, and said each one of these areas are functional in all means at KL contributing to the R&D outcomes of the University in terms of 49 Sponsored Projects, 1625 Peer Reviewed Publications and 27 In House R&D Projects, and 5 Centers of Excellence. He said it makes him proud to announce that Two of the Departments of the University The Mechanical Engg and the ECE have been Supported under the prestigious FIST 2012 Grant by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt.of India. He later stressed the Graduating Professionals to achieve success in all their endeavors by excelling in their Professional front, but always giving first importance to their Parents and family, without whose support the achievements of any individual is not possible.

A total of 325 M.Tech., MCA & MBA Degrees, twenty five Gold Medals and Twenty five Silver medals constituted by KLEF for the Topper and Second Place M.Tech, MBA and MCA Passed out batch were awarded by the Hon'ble President KLEF Er.K.Satyanarayana and Secretary KLEF Mrs.K.Siva Kanchana Latha  apart from these medals A Memorial Gold Medal instituted in Memory of Late.Dr.A.C.Rao was awarded to the Topper in M.Tech Thermal Engineering(Dept.of Mech.Engg.) and Two Cash Prizes instituted by Prof.M.Rama Moorty in memory of his Late father Mr.Mylavarapu Rao, were awarded to the Toppers of M.Tech Power Systems and Drives, M.Tech Power Electronics.

The Deans Dr.K.Rajasekhara Rao, Dr.A.Anand Kumar, Dr.Y.V.S.S.S.V.Prasada Rao, Dr.K.Koteswara Rao and Dr.K.V.Ramana, Director KLBS Prof.M.Bhaskara Rao presented the Graduate Degree holders to the Vice Chancellor who in turn awarded the Degrees after an Oath of Professional Ethics Monitored by Hon'ble Chancellor to the Fresh Graduates.

The Convocation ended with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr.N.Rangaiah Registrar followed by the National Anthem.
