Have an Eco-Friendly Diwali: Awareness on Noise and Air Pollution due to Fireworks.
Diwali, the festival of lights, is often celebrated by illuminating homes with beautiful decorations, but it also brings along significant noise and air pollution due to fireworks and tapas. To address these environmental concerns, NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers from K L Deemed to be University's CSE Honors Department took the initiative to raise awareness in Nutakki village, Mangalagiri mandal, on Thursday 17-10-2024.
Under the guidance of NSS Program Coordinator Dr. P. Srikanth Reddy, volunteers went door to door, educating residents about the harmful effects of firecrackers. The initiative focused on the respiratory issues caused by toxic gases, the risk of hearing problems from excessive noise, the potential for eye injuries, and the dangers of burns from mishandling fireworks. The campaign also emphasized the importance of teaching children about these risks, with the responsibility resting on the elders to guide them.

Prasad, Advisor Dean Student Affairs Dr. Habibullah Khan, and CSE Honors Head of Department Dr. Senthil Athithan, applauded the efforts of the volunteers and coordinator P. Suresh for their contribution in promoting a cleaner, safer Diwali.
