K L Deemed to be University PhD Student Lakshmi Soumya Emani Selected for Prestigious France Travel Award.

Lakshmi Soumya Emani, a PhD scholar in the Department of Biotechnology at KL Deemed University, has been selected for the prestigious France Travel Award for Neurochemists, the university's Pro-Chancellor, Dr. KS Jagannadha Rao, announced on Thursday.

Dr. Rao highlighted that Lakshmi Soumya is conducting cutting-edge research on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly focusing on Parkinson?s disease. Her research explores the therapeutic potential of curcumin glycoside molecules in developing new treatments for neurological disorders.

Recognizing her contributions to the field, the French international research community has selected her for a fully-funded research opportunity at a leading research institute in the United States. Notably, she is the only researcher from Andhra Pradesh chosen for this honor.

As part of the award, Lakshmi Soumya will attend an international neuroscience conference in the USA from August 14 to 24, 2025, where she will conduct advanced research and engage with global experts in the field. Her travel and accommodation expenses will be fully covered by the France Travel Award program.
